Pilgrims Crossings
Walk in the Footsteps of the Saints
The best way to immerse yourself in the true spirit and experience of Holy Island is to walk across the sands. We will guide you, following the route that would have been taken by pilgrims and saints over the centuries. There will be time on the journey to explore the history of this remarkable place, time to see and learn about some of the wildlife on the Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve and more importantly time for conversation and contemplation. This experience is best done as a barefoot experience or in wellies as you will be taking the route that was taken by St Aidan and St Cuthbert in the 7th century AD. Cost: £35 per adult, £10 per child, under 5s are free. The crossing takes approximately 1.25 hours – 1.5 hours on foot, once we reach the island we then visit The Pilgrims Coffee House for tea and cakes (included), so you need to allow 2.5 hours for the whole experience. If you want to walk back then this can also be done (tides allowing), Allow 4-5 hours total from start to finish including time on Lindisfarne. Availability for this experience is dependant on tide times. Unique Sunset and Sunrise options also available. We will cross early evening, visit the Crown and Anchor for a drink of choice then return as the sunsets over the sands, and the stars begin to fill the skies, this is a truly awesome experience. |
“This is a bucket list must-do experience, walking in 1000’s of pilgrim’s footsteps barefoot across the sand listening to the call of the magical curlew and Dave’s local knowledge really brought this experience to life. A memory that we will always treasure.”
